PCT Pty Ltd has four shareholders covering a variety of disciplines, all with individual experience in the field of Precision Agriculture of between 10-15 years. The core operational team possesses a range of complementary skills, with individual staff working closely to support each other on projects. In addition, the company has a select group of affiliate consultants as part of the VisionAg network. These affiliates are known as agencies and must comply by operating as fee for service advisors in their field of expertise – normally farm agronomy. Positioned between PCT and the agencies is a VisionAg dealership. The VisionAg dealerships are responsible for soil and topographic data collection, airborne remotes sensing logistics, equipment interfacing support, data delivery & training and support to the agencies. People

Andrew Smart, Managing Director – NSW Office
Andrew has been involved in precision agriculture since 1999 where he worked at IAMA as a precision agricultural specialist. Andrew worked closely with agronomic staff as well as research organisations including Australian Centre for Precision Agriculture (ACPA) to introduce PA to IAMA’s client base. Andrew along with Broughton Boydell and Guy Boland founded PCT in 2001 to service corporate farms PA implementation.


Michael Wells, VisionAg Business Manager – SA Office

Michael has also been involved in PA since 1999 based in SA with Kieran Agencies. Michael joined PCT in 2005 and became a partner in 2008. Michael has been instrumental in the introduction and development of the VisionAg network in WA and SA where three dealers now operate 5 EM, 2 gamma radiometric units and seven RTK GPS units collecting data. These dealers look after more than 20 agencies which encompasses around 1.2 million ha’s. Michael is instrumental in ensuring the work quality and solutions are being standardised across the VisionAg Network.

Michael has worked with leading viticulturalists and vineyards in the implementation of Precision Viticulture and enjoys a reputation for producing a very high standard of project implementation, management and reporting.

Brooke Sauer, Special Projects Manager
New to the team in October 2009 is Brooke Sauer who will look to increase PCT’s involvement in specific industry related projects. These projects require expertise in a number of areas of spatial data collection and management and Brooke’s role will see these projects are delivered with integrity and professionalism.

Specialist processors
PCT employs 4 GIS processing staff with capabilities of processing data from a full range of equipment manufactures and file types. These staff are trained internally by PCT to deliver high quality and timely work.

Specialist Sub-contractors
PCT uses Specterra Service from WA to supply airborne remote sensing technologies, collection and processing of multispectral imagery. PCT chose Specterra Services to supply these services because of their expertise, professionalism and data quality in the remote sensing field. Specterra provide high resolution biomass surveys of crops for in crop management solutions provided by PCT and agents.
