Using a single data layer is a good starting point to a PA plan, however by introducing one or two extra data layers we are reducing the risk and enhancing the outcomes.
Example 1 Using EMI to identify variable yield potential zones. This can be applied to variable in-crop application of fertiliser where you can reduce risk by basing your fertiliser application on several factors; yield potential, seasonal changes and outlook during the growing cycle.
Example 2 A drainage plan may be introduced to make the field more trafficable. By comparing this with yield data you can analyse the net yield return by reducing water logging. This leads to more efficient surface drainage and improved bed design in areas prone to waterlogging. Additionally this information can guide structural improvements such as re-laser levelling irrigated fields.
Example 3 In irrigated fields statistical correlation between an EMI map and a slope survey can be used to locate the best position for moisture probes.
